  • Overview

    TA Instruments is looking to hire a Development Engineer for it's Electroforce Location. This is the opportunity to perform a variety of professional mechanical engineering and design tasks in the areas of analysis, research, design, development in rheological instrumentation.

    Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to

    • Provides solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the design, development, and testing of company produced scientific instrumentation; determines design approaches and parameters
    • Analyzes a variety of data, conducts test and evaluates results; conducts feasibility studies and testing on new modified designs
    • Supports development needs for new products and modified designs from concept through production
    • Complies with good engineering and laboratory practices and ISO procedures

    The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following

    • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or closely related field
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in mechanical engineering of instrumentation or closely related field
    • Should posess comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated application of engineering principles, theories, concepts, and procedures used for the development of scientific instrumentation
    • 3D CAD skills, simulation experience with ANSYS or FEA modeling (stress, flow, thermal…) desirable.
    • Familiar with tolerance analysis. GD&T experience desirable
    • Knowledge of materials characterization, preferably rheological techniques and applications
    • Ability to work with others as an effective team member
    • Electrical design experience.
    • Power Electronics - Bridge/Buck Converters.
    • Servo motor design including magnetic optimization.
    • Proficient in use of a FEA package(s) for magnetic design.   
    • Servo motor thermal management experience.
    • Working knowledge of general manufacturing processes for servo motors.
    • Background knowledge in controls and contol systems. 
    • Background knowledge in magnetic material applications.
