  • Overview

    At TA Instruments the Materials Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies in an organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

    Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to

    Management Responsibilities:


    Buyer Management

    • Training and development of buyers
    • Performance monitoring

    Cost Management

    • Purchased inventory materials
    • Non-Inventory purchases
    • Make/Buy Cost Analysis
    • Contract administration

    Supplier Management

    • Sourcing strategy to support manufacturing, development, and new product introductions
    • Qualify and develop supplier relationships
    • Supplier performance monitoring

    Inventory Management

    • ABC Stratification and Order Policies
    • Inventory Forecasting
    • Inventory Turns Performance
    • Slow Moving/Obsolescence identification

    Compliance Management

    • Auditing Compliance
    • ISO Compliance
    • RoHS Compliance
    • Conflict Minerals Compliance
    • NDA Compliance

    Systems Management

    • Facilitate consistency of TA purchasing philosophy and processes throughout all TA manufacturing plant locations
    • Train and develop new role of Business Applications Analyst to support systems within manufacturing

    The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following

    • Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a four (4) year degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 10 - 15 years of relevant procurement experience, specifically with Capital Equipment Manufacturing. 
    • Demonstrated experience and expertise in purchasing negotiations.
    • Successful track record of recruiting, managing, motivating, and mentoring buyers and support staff.
