    Overview

    Under the direction of the MIS Manager manages and supports the local and wide area networks, all networked hardware and related applications, all email, internet and communication related services, backups, disaster recovery, upgrades, systems documentaion, as well as providing leadership and/or direction to systems technicians.

    Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to

    • Administers all network functions by supporting and configuring network servers on various platforms that include MS Windows server w/Active directory; establishing network protocols and supporting and configuring equipment including but not limited to, TCP/IP, firewalls, routers, and VPN’s.
    • Supports client-side applications including but not limited to Skype, Office, Dynamics, Onedrive and other MS Office products. Knowledge of Power BI and SQL Queries and functionality is helpful.
    • Supports and manages client hardware including but not limited to laptops, desktops, mobiles and tablets.
    • Researches and evaluates local and wide area network hardware and software requirements to provide recommendations for upgrade and direction to support future business needs.
    • Evaluates and coordinates scheduling for upgrades and repairs of existing network hardware and software. This includes presenting timelines and budgetary requirements and testing in pilot environment.
    • Monitors and provides recommendations for scheduling and upgrade of local client hardware and software.
    • Provides training, when required to LAN technicians and users in local area network administration and usage.
    • Plans, evaluates and upgrades network infrastructure to maintain network integrity and security at the highest level.
    • Communicates any network related changes, maintenance schedules, and downtimes to management.
    • Maintains necessary contact when required with third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
    • Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
    • Troubleshoots, controls, upgrades and maintains e-mail and related internet services, as well as external communication links through firewalls, routers, secure tunnels and encryption techniques.

    The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following

    Job Level: Associates/Mid-Level

     

    • Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a two (2) year Associate's Degree in a computer science, management information systems, computer technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience which could include MCSE certification.
    • In addition to the above, the candidate should have 3-7 years of directly applicable experience with PC repair and network environments.
