Overview

The Senior Electrical Architect lives at the intersection of hardware and software and developes complex systems. This exciting role will be heavily involved in shaping the future of TA Instruments products! Key disciplines within this role include signal processing, physics, electrical, electronics, and software to provide core functionality underlying material analysis.
 

Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to

This position requires extensive experience in all aspects of electronics product development, experimental design, root cause analysis, and responsibility to share knowledge as a mentor to junior engineers. As a Senior Electrical Architect, you will be a technical Lead and key contributor as products progress through our new product development process to commercialization. This individual will be involved in cradle to grave product development as well as aspects of sustaining engineering. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Work with scientists and lead project engineers to develop, evaluate and qualify mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies, components, materials, processes and/or processing equipment for incorporation into new product designs 
  • Demonstrate feasibility of designs to fulfill prescribed requirements with test data and supplemental analysis to justify design approaches 
  • Create system verification documents to provide test evidence that System design requirements have been met. 
  • Help generate a System design/architecture to ensure various sub-systems work together 
  • Contribute to design reviews, phase reviews, System cost model, and other project related activity as needed.  
  • Provide technical analysis support and guidance to team members and other groups to implement designs with proven feasibility into commercial products while ensuring conformance to company and customer requirements 
  • Collaborate with SMEs and Engineering in generating an understanding of system functionalities to meet user requirements 
  • Develop DSP Design, FPGA design and simulations, Analog Circuit Design, Design for reliability and manufacturability 

The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years industry experience in electrical / electromechanical engineering design pertaining to analytical instruments, medical device products or similar product development background
  • Familiarity with real time operating systems. 
  • Experience with a variety of analysis and evaluation tools such as data acquisition systems for displacement, load, temperature, pressure transducers, and/or optical measurement devices. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within and outside of team, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with superiors, peers, suppliers, and customers. 
  • Ability to function in a dynamic environment where project plans and priorities can change quickly.
